About This Boston Bag Pattern
This pattern is designed for a small, hand-held Boston-style bag — rounded, structured, and easy to match with everyday outfits. The silhouette is classic and compact, making it a perfect introduction to bags that require a bit of shaping but are still accessible for beginners.
Size & Leather Suggestions
When completed, this little Boston bag measures roughly 23cm × 13cm × 10cm. Actual size may vary slightly depending on your stitching method and the type of leather you choose — a small 1–2cm difference is completely normal in handmade work.
For materials, most makers will find that 5–6 square feet of leather is enough for this project. It’s only a guideline — your usage may vary based on thickness, handle length, and reinforcement choices.
For the best results, we recommend working with top grain or full grain leather. You can choose a firmer hide if you prefer a structured shape, or something slightly softer if you enjoy a more relaxed look. Feel free to experiment — different textures and weights can make the same pattern feel completely unique.
How to Use the Pattern
The PDF is print-ready. Just print the pages at 100% scale on A3 or Letter paper, cut out the paper templates, and trace the outlines onto your leather. From there, you can customize the stitching, edge work, hardware, and handle length according to your own style.
Take your time with the curves and openings — these small details are what make the Boston bag so charming once finished. As always, the process is just as enjoyable as the final result.
